The Writer-Entrepreneur

Have you ever dreamed of being a writer?

I have. For me, it first became a reality when I was 16. I co-authored my first book. But that barely scratched the surface of what I hoped to do. I’ve spent a lot of time and energy ever since seeking jobs, improving my writing, and establishing my career. And it’s paying off. So far, I’ve been published by Thomas Nelson, The Upper Room, Abingdon Press, Desiring God, The Huffington Post, The Mighty, and Yahoo.

But it didn’t happen overnight and there’s always more to learn.

The world needs more fantastic communicators. Yes, I know, it seems like there’s a flood of writers trying to break into the industry. But I’m a firm believer that the world is waiting for the next great communicator who can speak directly to our hearts. They’re few and far between. Why can’t the next great author be you?

There are a lot of voices claiming they can tell you how to achieve your goals and I’ve waded through a lot of them. Some of the advice is great, some of it is repetitive, and some of it just isn’t that helpful. I know it can take a significant amount time to sift through the information and find only a small handful of really good ideas that will help you grow your platform, develop your writing, and establish your voice in the industry.

That’s why this section of my site, The Writer-Entrepreneur, I believe will be beneficial to your writing journey! Here you will find resources I have created based on steps I have taken for my career, and information I have curated to speak directly into the spectrum of writers establishing their careers who also know the importance of being entrepreneurial-minded.

What is a Writer-Entrepreneur?

A writer-entrepreneur is what I call myself: I’m a writer, but in order to be a successful writer, I’m also an entrepreneur. It’s a mindset with which I approach my work. This means I’m required to have an understanding of a lot of different topics: writing, communication, blogging, social media, platform building, business, and marketing. All these skills are necessary for success.
